The Diaphanous Wedge
Complete solutions for the diaphanous wedge, by which is meant a wedge with identical wavenumbers inside and outside the wedge, are presented. The results are obtained from an integral equation for the fields on the wedge, which is solved by the Mellin and KantorovichLebedev transforms in the static and dynamic cases, respectively. Pertinent formulations of Gegenbauer’s addition theorems play a...
متن کاملThe WEDGE Emmersive Projection Theatre
We describe the ``WEDGE'' immersive projection theater. The WEDGE has been built as an affordable installation for university VR infrastructure in Australia. It achieves a ``semi-immersive'' sense of presence without, apparently, give rise to significant discomfort. The vertex region of the theater appears to be especially effective in giving a sense of presence. See http://wedge.anu.edu.au/ fo...
متن کاملWedge Arthrodesis of the Wrist
The method of arthrodesis of the wrist here described was originally evolved by Mr E. P. Brockman in a case of severe flexion deformity of the wrist due to a long-standing Volkmann’s ischaemic contracture. Subsequently the method was extended in its application to other cases of flexion deformity of the wrist and later was also used for arthrodesis of the wrist in cases without deformity. Spike...
متن کاملThe Wedge Virtual Reality theatre
We describe the history and construction of a stereoscopic projection theatre known as the Wedge. Originally built as a means to introduce supercomputer level visualization facilities into a cash-strapped Australian university, the Wedge has attracted some thousands of visits from the general public. Wedges can now be found in two Australian universities and two museums (visitor centres). Recen...
متن کاملThe Shrinking Wedge of Circles
This paper describes certain properties of the fundamental group of the shrinking wedge of circles. Covering space theory is an inadequate tool since the shrinking wedge of circles is not semi-locally simply connected. We conclude with the fact that the shrinking wedge of circles is not homotopy equivalent to the wedge product of a countable number of circles.
